Church Officer Opening
We have a vacancy for someone to serve as our new Church Officer to support the Ministries of the Church. Family flat provided.
Position Duties:
You will work very closely with our Church Minister, Pastor Jack Brown, regarding weekly Sunday Morning Worship Services, Church services/activities during Holy Week and Advent, Weddings, Christenings and Funerals.
You must be in attendance on Sunday mornings. Prior to the commencement of Sunday Morning Worship, you must put the Pulpit Bible in place, put up the Hymn Numbers, switch on microphones and ensure they are working and place a glass of water on the Lectern for the Minister. Chairs also need to be set out. The front door of the Church must be open by 10:15am. If needed, heating must be switched on to ensure a warm Church.
After the Service, the Pulpit Bible needs to be returned to the Vestry, microphones switched off and, when the Church is empty of people, switch off all lights and any other electrical items.
You are responsible for the safety and security of our Church building. You are required to know how to operate all gas, electricity and water supplies and how to evacuate the building in the event of an emergency.
You will be required to carry out minor tasks in the Church building such as changing light bulbs/tubes and smoke alarm batteries need to be changed once a year. All repair issues must be reported to the Fabric Convenor, Kenny Dick. If Kenny is unavailable then the Church Secretary, Elaine, can be contacted.
We have our own Church groups and some outside organisations use our Church building. You must ensure that chairs and tables are set out for the groups and during Autumn and Winter months, the heating is on for the groups in their relevant areas. Chairs and tables need to be put away after the groups are finished. There is a keyholder for each group to gain access to the parts of the building they require. On an odd occasion, such as repairs being carried out in the Church, workmen will need access to the Church. You must check the building after all groups/workmen have vacated to ensure that no appliances, lights, etc have been left on, and that the building is safe and secure.
The Church Diary must be kept up-to-date with all details regarding groups using our Church and also any events.
In the interests of safety, access to all doorways, passages and fire exits must be kept clear of any obstructions.
